Buddist Datsun

President and Sister Southam stayed with us Sat, Sun, and Monday, Sept 19-21.  On Monday Sept 21 we took Marchutka # 97 East to its end-of-stop which is at a Buddist Datsun in the hills of Ulan-Ude.  The following are a few photographs at the Datsun.

The enterance to the Datsun. A Buddist Monk talked to us in English.  He said that he was a pupil.

Southams and Moleffs by a Prayer Gong.

The view, looking south, towards Ulan-Ude from the Datsun was magnificant.  You can see the Selenga river which flows north into Lake Bikal.  We live within 2-miles of the Uda river.  The Selenga and Uda rivers meet at Ulan-Ude.

This is a zoom shot from the Datsun showing the Opera House (spiked building in the center of the photo). We live in a 3-story apartment building across the street from the Opera House.  The apartment building is on right side of Opera House and is hidden by the trees.  The Opera House is currently being remodeled to be completed sometime in 2010.  We should be able to attend an opera before our mission is completed in January 2011.
